6/`10, was looking forward to it for so long, but then couldnt get into it. James Corden is shit. What the fuck were Badiell and Skinner up to? Its not the same without Fantasy Football. At least B & S look like they could join you for a decent kick about, fucking Corden would the the fat lad picked last, and of course there would be odd numbers so each team would argue that he should play for the other team, in the end, he wanders about down at the corner flag and no-one will pass to him. Thats James Coden and he is the actual embodiment of this world cup. ;D

4/10 for me. Worst World Cup since Italia 90 (which was shockingly poor!) Germany, Chile, Mexico, Argentina and Uruguay were worth watching but the rest were just tedious in the main. The pitches were poor - especially that one in Port Elizabeth that looked as if it had been ploughed. The ball was a fucking joke - probably the single biggest factor in the poor standard of football that we have seen. When will FIFA learn? The big players just didn't turn up. The commentary and punditry were ambarrassing at times. Goal average of 2.27 per game is just wank. Best WC for me was Mexico 86 - I was a bit too young for Spain 82 RoryM

To be fair the reason for so many low scores is because england were so wank.
From south africas point of view, nothing went wrong, the only thing that made it shit were the performances from several teams, england, france, italy, brazil, portugal etc
And the coverage on ITV was absolutely pony piss.James corden was absolutely fucking awful. And abbey clancy was nearly as bad, its just a good job she is a sexy twat.
Organisation- 8.5/10 football- 4.5/10 coverage-2/10 (0 out of 5 for itv and 2 for the bbc)

8. Germany, Spain and Uruguay showed how the game should be played, with intelligence and an awareness of space. But will anyone here take note?
I doubt it. There are too many buffoons here blathering on about 'English blood and thunder', or rather 'Thud and blunder'.
When will we EVER learn that successful football is played with the HEAD? And I don't mean a long ball hammered in the general direction of Heskey's big thick bonce.

The only thing missing was a real end to end high scoring game.
The organisation was good. Beautiful country to host the World Cup, just a shame about that fucking ball!

I didn't mention Spain as despite being technically the best team in the tournament they were clearly a fair way below their best. Maybe this had a lot to do do with Del Bosque's persistence with a clearly unfit Torres but for large periods they lacked a cutting edge. The fact that they won it says as much about how poor the other teams were imho. RoryM

They were probably the best 3 teams , having said that I thought the standard was pretty poor overall, Japan were quite entertaining but never serious contenders, the flyaway ball certainly did not help. 4/10.

5. Generally disappointed with the standard of football on offer, not enough goals or memorable moments of individual brilliance. Really enjoyed the Germans thought they were by far the best team to watch, Ozil would prob be my player of the tournament. Quite disappointed with Spain, technically great but nowhere near incisive enough. Enourmously Disappointed by England total and utter CRAP.

I thought Messi was quite good until the Germany game to be honest, he was unlucky to score before then. Overall I'd give it a 3, shit matches, annoying atmosphere, shit pundits, shit refs. The final kind of summed the whole tournament up to be honest. Constant dirty play, boring football and endless cheating.

Being 40 i never saw the 66 world cup with my first being 78. What World Cup do people rate the best. For me I'll go with 82 closely followed by 90. 82 was a classic with 3 home countries in it the magical brazilians the Germany France semi and the Tardelli celebration. We did well and had a team you could get behind with no prima donnas. 90 Gazza and all that the Platt winner, Cameroon the heartbreak of the Semi but an unaventful final made up for with the tears of Maradonna. Your thoughts please? Im 40 as well and pretty much agree with all youve said, are we looking at 82 and 90 because we were actually quite good?? I enjoyed 86, some great football, found 94 utterly boring and pointless, (we werent there and it was in USA), 98 alright, 2002 I enjoyed, seeing some of the minnows get far, and 2006 even though I went, I thought it was the worst World Cup yet, having only the Zidane head butt as a famous incident. This World Cup has for me had everything a World Cup needs, Controversy (Suarez handball, Lampard "goal"), great goals (Van Bronckhurst, Forlan x2, Klose from Ozil's great pass) and great games (Ghana v Uruguay, Slovakia v Italy, Germany v Argentina). I'd rate it a 7 or 8 Just my humble opinion.

no saving graces for me, apart from maybe the odd South American and African performance showing our over-paid and over-rated tools up.

This year more than ever I was really looking forward to the World Cup (particuarly England's chances) but I have to admit that I enjoyed it more after England went out. Reason being that I was able to watch the games without the urge to shout and scream at the telly.
I was particuarly impressed with Chile and Mexico in the group stages along with both Uruguay and Germany in the knockout stages (there thrashing of the Argies for me was the performance of the tournament). It was also nice to see the French and the Italians (reigning champions my arse!) get eliminated at an early stage.
Spain were good in patches in my opinion. But once they got their 1st win (they should never of lost to the Swiss) I did have a sneaking suspicion that they'd win it. I do feel that the team to give them the best game was Paraguay as unlike the Dutch realised that you can press and force them back without resorting to fouling or in De Jong's case Kung Fu.
Overall it seems that the South African people really embraced the game. I didn't like the fact that games were far to over priced, as many people in South Africa are very poor. Perhaps that dipstick Blatter and his corporate cronies at FIFA could look at this for 2014 if they truly want to make it the 'worlds game'
I won't miss the Vuvuzela's & ITV's crap coverage and equally crap pundits. And finally and probably more so for me that bloody wave your flag song it does my head in ahhhhh!
Overall 5/10
Roll on August 14th!

The highlights were few and far between. Uruguay and Germany were good to watch (although the Uruguayans had a tendency to go down very easily), but any game featuring Spain was a dire spectacle. Overall, the quality of football was awful, the atmosphere was rubbish (vuvuzelas are not a cultural thing and they kill atmospheres) and the final was a turgid mess wherein the only entertainment was working out which Dutch player was about to clobber which Spaniard. There were a few good games, but a lot of it was just dross.
It's a shame that two of the best teams in the tournament - Germany and Uruguay - didn't get to the final. Uruguay in particular were unlucky to lose to that dodgy goal, but the Germans were seen off by Spain's game killing tactics.

Difficult............ to those who say......." organisation was good ".....fuck off..... depends on where you were. Try telling that to the thousands who were stuck in a 5 hour + queue from the car/fan park in Rustenberg after the you.S.A game....... as for getting to the game.......... .......... fucking chaos, one road in one road out, no orginisation, just chaos, thought at the time that it was going to be it for rest of the tourniment...... Much better in Cape Town (which is stunning,) which I think was indicedive (sp) of the steep learning curve the whole country took, and I think the whole country went with . Fantastic place to visit, would definately go back again, must try Durban and the East cost by the Indian Ocean, much warmer than Cape Town. don't get put off by the newspaper bollox, a beautifull country, only my 2nd time in Africa and I am quite well travelled............. Pity England are shit at football....will be back.
