This really does (on the face of it) seem a very strange move for Pearson to make. Only a few days ago I was praising the progress he has made at Leicester (morning rob) and they would appear to have every chance of bettering last season's effort in the coming season.
I can only assume that he has received some pretty tasty promises from the Hull Chairman (as well as a pay offer too good to turn down). It could also be that he doesn't like the noises coming from the Leicester board ref the coming season and being able to move forward from last season. There has to be a great deal more to this than Pearson seeing Hull as a better prospect than Leicester because, in most respects, many of us would see Leicester as the 'better bet'.
Moves like this sometimes DO surprise though. I, like most, berated Coyle for leaving Burnley for Bolton mainly because it was a pretty 'shitty' thing to do. However purely in self-advancement terms, he was right and it was an excellent move for him personally.

Tony Mowbray seemed to be the clear favourite for the job, until Friday when the story broke that the new gaffer was already in a job..
Dave Jones and Ian Holloway had been mentioned in the press, but had ruled themselves out..
Milan Mandric and Nigel Pearson emerged as the names in the frame.. I dont know too much about the mechanics at Leicester, and I dont care.. but it could be that Mandric is a bit of a tight fisted fucker and Nigel Pearson was becoming frustrated at his lack of ambition..
A semi-juicy contract, and a semi-decent war chest is all it took to poke Leicester up the arse with a POiNTY STiCK..
Footnote: They aint happy about it.. I reckon they will turnout a BIG BABY SQUAD when we play 'em next season..

Billy: Yeh I'm guessing you've got it about right. My post wasn't really questioning Hull's prospects so much as wondering why Pearson sees them as so much better than Leicester's. There has to be more to it than that. If you have 'sorted' your finacial worries and can invest in the coming season then that would expalin it if (as we suspect) Leicester aren't keen to spend to move forward from last season. I fully admit that I haven't got a clue either way but it's one explaination for what seems, on the face of it, a pretty strange decision.
By the Way: For what it's worth, I think Pearson will prove to be a very good manager.

I'm in the dark about our finances.. they maybe under control, but I very much doubt they are sorted, the Duffen legacy wont be swept under the carpet over night..
That said, certain guarantees must have been made to Pearson for him to even consider leaving a safe job, where he is highly regarded..
I dont think Milan Mandric will let his man go without a fight.. but maybe the damage has already been done at their end.. 9 managers in 3 years suggests that Mandric is a difficult man to work with..
I agree with you.. it does seem a tad strange, I didn't see this coming at all..
