The whole debate about next season's kit got me thinking about our fast-approaching 150th anniversary. Would you be in favour of doing something radical with the kit to commemorate it? I like the idea of it and thought when Arsenal did it for their last season at Highbury it was quite classy. But then "redcurrant" is not such a departure from their regular kit... Would you be in favour of going back to Stoke Ramblers' original colours of claret and blue hoops (or maybe the black and blue as it endured a bit longer and was probably more significant) just for one season? www.historicalkits.co.uk/Stoke_City/Stoke_City.htm

I could actually go for that.
It would be nice to have a little logo on our (and the other 10 teams that remain of the original 12) shirt denoting that we were a founder member of the football league and are therefore more historically significant than 13 other teams in the league next season.

I agree with whoever said it should be an away strip.
I also like MD's idea, it was a thread on here ages ago. I really think there should be a little stitched in badge.
Would you have to ask the FA though to make it official? Or just have a gentleman's agreement with the other clubs and hope that no other club decides to gatecrash and add it to their kits as well, for a laugh?

Don't all 12 still exist - in name at least? I know Accy Stanley did some financial jiggling but the spirit lives on in the same town (unlike Wimbledon -> MK). Weren't the 12: Us, Burnley, Accy, Blackburn, Bolton, Wolves, Derby, WBA, Preston, Aston Villa, Notts County and Everton? Also - 2013-14 season will be the League's 125th Anniversary - it's "Birthday" being 17th April (same as mine!). The "Founder's" Badge is a good idea - like it. Maybe some kind of tournament that would involve all the teams or a "Founder's XI" against a World Team maybe?

As an away strip perhaps. Agree - it's not unusual for some teams to have a "historical" set of away colours - Man City and Blackburn spring to mind. Although they've had some weird and wonderful away shirts over the years, every now and then they come back to red and black. I think those are siginificant for both clubs for whatever reasons. Don't forget - laughable though it is at present - the yellow* and green away kit that Man Yoo had 15 years ago harks back to their "Newton Heath" days. * - As opposed to "gold".

In 1863, apart from Notts. Co. who the feck else could we have played? The Ramblers shirt should be worn in away matches + a few home games against the shit, Chelsea and Liverpool, just to show we have a history.

I think the shorts should be shhin length too, with pockets. And all players should have to wear brown boots that weigh more than 10kg.

Accrington FC folded in 1896, but Accrington Stanley were founded in 1891. I don't know, there could have been a bit of fiddling, but I think they're separate clubs.

How to celebrate the anniversary in 2012/13
1. Wear the old strip as an away strip
2. Get into the Champions League ;d

I like the 1903-4 season's kit. Very smart, simple, black shorts and stockings, white shirt. A more modern take might look something like this perhaps?

Although i think its horrible i would have the ramblers kit as the away strip. Would like to see a competion, with fans submitting designs [traditional red and white stripes] for the home shirt, with the best design voted for by fans winning, The founders badge is a brilliant idea.

The big question is: is there a Stoke Ramblers purple/red or blue/black hoops top in the Adidas off-the-peg Sunday league catalogue. Cos it there isn't...there's no chance.

I think we should have it as an away kit or a one off.
We should also have a glamour friendly against a Real Madrid/Barcelona etc at the Brit.
Those 2 things are the bare minimum for me.
Lets hope the club (Scholes) take it as seriously as we do.

Home Kit - The Ricoh. Away Kit - The Ramblers kit would be great. i'd like a founders pre season tournament for the anniversary maybe invite a few big names as well, but i think the important thing is to have the founders there. And we might as well let Accrington come just to make up the numbers.
