Peter Thorne.
Was bloody gutted when he left for Baardiff, my all time hero in a Stoke City shirt. Such a legend!

JIMMY GREENHOFF, still shake my head thinking about it, and because of where he went. Met him a few weeks ago in a pub in Etruria, very decent bloke it seemed and was happy to reminise.

Peter Thorne. As years go by you get hardened and cynical but that transfer was was sickening. But the main thing is we still went up.

Thorne was the last (pushing 10 years ago!) time was proper gutted re a sale.
however very much unlike the previous PC regime the Icelandic board held out for as much money as they could - £1.7m we got was double the original offer & believe you me PC would have taken the 1st offer - & we signed 6 players the following summer on the back of this.
Had we not had the worst injury crisis in the clubs history post Waddington then we have walked away with the division. As it was we had the play off miracle with wee Jimmys strike & Olare's arse.
thinking on I think its obvious that if/when Ryan goes we will be super gutted. IF SCFC get top dollar & the timing of the sale right then ce la vie.
