;DStoke are hoping to snap up Wolves striker Jay Bothroyd on a month's loan today in time for him to feature in tomorrow's Championship showdown at Watford.
And City striker Vincent Pericard is set to join Southampton on a month's loan after falling well down the pecking order at the Britannia.
Manager Tony Pulis has been in negotiation with opposite number Mick McCarthy over the last few days to try and tie up Bothroyd's signature.
"He's a player who's still young and has always had loads of ability," said Pulis from his Watford training camp.
"He can play up front or through the middle and will freshen things up for us. We obviously want him available for tomorrow, but we'll have to see exactly what part he plays."
Bothroyd will be a timely addition to Stoke's promotion-chasing squad tomorrow as Pulis is definitely without suspended winger Liam Lawrence and could also be minus striker Mama Sidibe because of a tweaked hamstring.
Bothroyd graduated through the ranks at Arsenal, but the 25-year-old Londoner left Highbury in a ?1m move to Coventry in 2000 without appearing for the Gunners.
A three-year stay at Coventry was followed by a curious 12-month stint in Italy with Perugia before returning to English football in 2004.
He spent the 2004/05 season on loan to Blackburn in the Premiership, making 11 appearances, before signing for Charlton for an undistinguished campaign in 2005/06.
His fortunes rose considerably at Wolves, however, after being signed a week after Mick McCarthy took charge in July 2006.
Bothroyd netted 12 league goals in 32 starts and 23 substitute appearances for Wolves, but has been frozen out of the first-team picture since their FA Cup defeat at Cardiff on February 16.
His last Wolves goal happened to be at Watford in a 4-1 FA Cup victory back in January.
Pericard, whose struggle to establish himself at Stoke was hampered by a spell in prison for a motoring offence earlier this season, has made just five appearances this term.

...Is this true or a load of bollocks? Why would Southampton take him? They're much too good for him!

Quite possibly the craziest decision ever by a manager.
Step 1) Take former England international Michael Ricketts on trial Step 2) Get former Juve star Vincent Pericard on loan
I love Southampton- they gave us Fuller & Higgy and are now taking Vince ;D

Aah, I see what he's thinking now. It's the Pericard-Ricketts dream team he's after.

I've heard Kidsgrove Town turned down the chance of signing Periwinkle on loan.

Let's not get too excited folks, remember its only a one-month no-obligation loan!
Unless he suddenly does a 'Kenwyn Jones' and overnight becomes a top-class player!?!

Pearson's obviously been living in a Chinese pipe!
I hate sitting in traffic on long car journey's but if Pericard wants a lift down there I'm available.
The £3-4k per week paid to Pericard compared to the moments of quality/effort he's provided equates to about £37,500 a minute.

There is an Air Force Chinook at the ready with one Vincent Periwinkle as the only passenger for a one way trip to St Marys on standby as we speak.

It doesn't have the thrust to weight ratio to take off with the useless fat twat on the missile rail, the Chinook however could carry him as an underslung load! H
