OK - Slightly OTT but nevertheless
Only 15 and a half thousand home support on Saturday, a couple of hundred sold for Norwich and only 1700 for the biggest way game of the season next Saturday.
OK, we have played shit in the last couple of matches but no one else is pulling up any trees and we still have the best chance of promotion to the top flight in over 20 years.
Can anyone explain whats up ??

Parking, Pulis, money and Coates off the top of my head-3 wank excuses and 1 perfectly reasonable one-the money that is.

Parking-well getting off the car park puts a lot of people off Pulis-still pisses people off and they won't because of him Coates-the same Money-people cannot afford to attend every game so pick and choose

Mark, Burnley did not bring 3000 I would say there were 16500 Stoke fans there.
Norwich is a trek and anything around the 600 mark would be respectable, my mate got our tickets earlier and was told we had sold 450.
Come Saturday we will have 2000 plus at Watford which is perfectly respectable.
I would suggest there are a number of factors, cost being a major one.......

Its crap having to longish aways in a few days - I agree but Stoke on Trent is a pretty big city and Im pretty sure than all of our 'peers' (Brazil, Wolves even Burnley) would take more and I dont think they are any better off than us financially.
400 to Norwich when we are 2nd in the league is crap whichever way you want to cut - sorry !

The problem of buying tickets for one dosent help !!! Tickets can still only be purchased by personel visit to the ground (or Hanley shop if you want to find somewhere to park after driving up there) !! I went to buy tickets for the Burnley game last week and the system was down again ! so couldnt purchase I had to go back to the ground again the following day, while there, I spoke to a lady who had driven from Market drayton to buy tickets for her husband and son, she had to return home without tickets. This area is very poor in commercial terms for a club that want to increase attendance. And then theres the parking issue, unable to leave the ground, no stewards or traffic control, its just a free for all every man for himself trying to get off the carparks, I mean why Mr scholes, why, ?????

chuffed dont people have phones in market drayton or were you live?Ring up order your ticket and then either have it sent to you or pick it up at the ground on matchday. Its just excuse after excuse with some people, missing my 2nd game of the season tomorrow night and i am right pissed off about because i am on nights and as mark says to many bandwagon fans at our club. Also parked in the power league saturday and was back in the house here in Derby at ten to six soaking wet so not everybody has trouble getting away from the ground.

3-400 isn't too bad. Its expensive to go to football these days and with two long away games in a week its no disgrace.

I have to say that Im personally sick of the complete lack of progress re: removing some of the restrictions around away travel and the ID card. Why on earth do you need a ticket in advance for a game like Norwich away - Surely ID cards shown prior to a cash turnstile would suffice ?
I also agree that getting tickets is a nightmare when you cant get up the ground - The phone can often take up to 45 minutes to get through on - not good enough.
Why oh why arent the club also considering some sort of subsidised travel for the remaining long distance too ?? They bleat on about the importance of the home support yet dont seem to give a toss about the vocal backing away - Something to do with ££ perhaps.
This isnt a 'whinge' - I believe that we should be moving mountains to capitalise on this wonderful opportunity rather than sitting there with our fingers up our arses 'hoping' it all works out for the best !

4 away games in 2 and half weeks : Preston : 1800 sold out Qpr : 700 -1000 ? Norwich : 500 -600? Watford : 1800 - 2000 ? Average 1200 - 1400 per away game Dont think you can complain about that? Its a long distance to travel ( not preston ) its expensive, one was on sky/mothers day and I dont care what anyone says ID cards still do have an affect on some games, ie not Norwich but probably Watford. So stop bloody moaning. Plus I still dont think there is a 'feel good factor ' around the club, there was for a couple of games, but as soon as we lost 1 people stated to moan ' same old stoke' ect ect. Some people still dont like Coates or Pulis, Its going to take alot more than 2 weeks at the top of the league to turn Stoke City Fc around. Thats my personal feeling anyway

Surely the opportunity to witness at first hand your very own 'Moses' Tony leading the troops to the promised land, I would have thought that someone like you would be making sure you took a half days holiday / sick off - wouldnt you ??

Our support isn't shit at all. 25 years of lower league football and the cost is outrageous. Assume someone earns 7 quid an hour, 40 hour week, 220 net ish. Ttravel, beer/food and ticket 30 quid Burnley, Norwich 50 quid, Watford 50 quid, That's 130 out of 220. That leaves 90 quid for food, accommodation, travel etc

We've got the best support in the country for a team that's never been in the Prem. That's a fact, I'd find you a source to prove it if I wasn't too busy cram-reading Mary Fucking Shelly's Franken Fucking Stein.

The turnout for Norwich is always shit, even on a Saturday. Fact of life. I'm disappointed that we are not taking more to Watford. The opportunity is there for 4,000 and barring work commitments or a bereavement then there are no excuses not to turn up for this one. Cash may be an issue but coaches or an advance ticket on the train would get you there for less than 20 quid I bet. We've known it was going to be massive for months. You telling me that folk couldn't have planned for it. Fuck me, I'm flying in from Canada for it.

It wasn't shit when Nigel Gleghorn got the winner in a 1-0 victory during our play-off season in 94-95.
In fact, the atmosphere was superb and Norwich used to be a game that attracted a decent stoke following.
That said, it is miles away for an evening fixture, and impossible to reach if you have to work on the day of the game.
I will be there early tomorrow, golfing as usual, and will hopefully witness a much needed victory with my fellow 500 or so Stokies!

Just a small reminder - footall is part of the entertainment industry. If the "product", such as getting off the car park after the match, isn't up to scratch then people will choose to do something else. That doesn't mean we're not true Stoke fans - just that we pay for a reasonable product, if we don't get it we'll spen our money on something else. Queue abuse.

Like it or like it not the ID card has been the main factor in our away support eroding away to what it is now. 2,000 is not too shoddy for watford in this ID card age we live, but as you say it's potentially the biggest game of the season and i'm sure without the cards there would be more.
Importantly though the ID card has slowly but surely taken away a generation of travelling fans from regular away matches, they like me do other things every other week.
There are many other factors though, cost also being a major one.
