To be honest, I think he's very realistic for us.
When it comes to the crunch, I really doubt anyone more established will lay down hard cash for someone as unproven and erratic as him.
But whether he's a good use of funds for us at £8m+ is doubtful as he's yet another who couldn't form a Pulis partnership with Fuller, the only striker we have of Premier class who Pulis trusts.

I can't see anyone bigger coming in for him, yet. And Stoke vs Wigan? I assume we can offer bigger wages. We've got better fans and we've still got masses of potential to fulfil, where as Wigan, though more established than us in the Prem, seem to have reached their limits.
It's only the Big Four and the second big four (Everton, Spurs, Villa and Citeh) that are a massively more attractive option than us, and he's not good enough for the Big Four, and as Grapey says, he's too erratic still for the others.

The thing is, bigger teams will come in for him. If its not a Spurs or a Manure this time - like it was with Palacios and Valencia - then it'll be a West Ham or a Birmingham, both likely to be able to offer much more money (and ambition?) than we could.
As much as it would be nice to presume our fanbase would be a great selling point, or that we still have 'masses of potential', I don't think Rodallega would see it that way. It really only would take a Brum or a WHU to come in for him and his decision would be made.
Chasing Rodallega would be a great way to waste our summer - once again - chasing a player that would only be interested in joining us if there were literally no other option available.

I don't think so! Brum-maybe but we're on a par with them imo despite the current league table. I think Rodders is well within our range but way overpriced.

if Villa make the champions legaue then they could afford him at £10m+ no worries, however would they look for a better option?
if they dont make the top 4 then that article - to me - heavily implies that Villa would hve to think long & hard about wether to spend that kind of cash. a

Have to agree with Fuller Magic above....he has potential of that there is little doubt.....but can we afford to spend on potential e.g Arismendi

Villa are in for Robbie Keane too. Are they this summer's Spurs and going after anyone that can kick a ball.
They can have Keane or Rodallega, if we can have Carew.
If they are after Rodallega and it comes down to him holding out for more money, then my stance is, we should make a take it or leave it offer, if he agrees then great, if he fucks us about I would just leave it and move on. I just really dont want us to haggle over a target for the duration of the window and end up with a Sunderland reject on a loan deal on the final day.

I'd personally love to see him at stoke
You hear lots of names - dented tins damaged good like Pennant is all were usually connected with and here
a young very talented columbian -genuine blistering pace and an eye for goal
playing in an empty stadium, on a grubby pitch covered in confusing lines for the eggchasers too - what a waste !
exactly the sort we should be signing if we want to move forward
