I was lucky enough to win a competition to watch England train a few years ago, just before they played Slovakia in 2003. At the end of training, most of the players come round and sign shirts (buy a new shirt!). You'll only get a few seconds with him, so you won't be able to real off a massive long spiel. Just congratulate him on his well-deserved call up and that all the Stokies are REALLY proud of him, or words to that effect.

Tell him that after 30 odd years we appear to have regained a Crown. And in that Crown Ryan is quite simply one of the jewels.

Ryan, congratulations on your well-earned reward, after two superb seasons with Stoke City.
Well done, too, on an amazingly restrained reaction to your denied winning goal v Man City recently, a credit to you, Stoke City and the professional game.
Like all Stokies, I'm proud of you and will be thrilled to bits to see you at Wembley, on Wednesday evening. Good luck for the wonderful future that lies ahead, hopefully much of it with The Potters.

Never doubted that You'd play for England one day Ryan, so much so that i'd already got your name printed on the back of the outgoing England away shirt when it came out a year or so ago..
You've earnt this call up mate, grasp it with both hands. Your making yourself and your family proud first and foremost, but each and every Stoke fan is so proud of you also and remember 'We'll Be With You' every step along the way...

From a Scandinavian friend: "I watched Match Of The Day this morning. How about the Arsenal player that broke his leg. In my opinion it was not deliberate, the Stoke player was distraught after the incident, the ball was in open play and both players were entitled to go for the ball it's not a tickling match and these things happen sometimes."
Good luck with England, Ryan.

Good luck, Ryan is a credit to the club and himself. No doubt at all that he will be a future England captain. I hope Capello makes a point of telling him to ignore the critics, and to play his game.

Seize your chance with both hands Ryan. You have all of the qualities to be a top international. Everyone is sorry for Aaron but every pro and ex pro in the country saw the tackle for what it was a 50/50 between two professionals.
I am in my 62nd year of watching Stoke and you are at least as good as any I have ever seen. My dad told me Neal Franklyn was the best ever and Billie Wright would never have won a cap if Franklyn had not gone to Bogota.
My namesake Denis Smith was also pretty good but you are up there with him.
Good luck lad.
