This thread deserves to see the light again.
I have been watching Stoke since 1974, and with Jimmy Greenhoff, Ricardo Fuller has become my all time favourite player.
Part of his appeal is his unpredictability. He is moody and sometimes sulky, and sometimes frustrating when he loses his cool.
But what a rare talent. I'm not sure there is any one except possibly Rooney with his mix of pace, strength and trickery. Deceptively quick and so strong, it's nearly impossible to tackle him. He's so direct as well. Once he starts running at goal, you can see the panic in the opposition defence. That's why he wins so many free kicks.
In the cup game at Eastlands Santa Cruz and Adebayour cost the thick end of £50 MILLION!! But Rici looked the most dangerous player on the pitch, and was a real handful every time he got the ball, and he cost 1% of their combined fees. I wouldn't swap him for both of them!
When we were promoted, I would have said he wasn't great in the air. But in the last 2 seasons in the Prem, his headed goals have been fantastic. He just keeps on surprising me. Every time we get a new player, Beats or Tuncay, it just sems to spur him on. I think he's getting better.
For all those journos who talk about anti-football bah, blah, blah, they might want to try watching Stoke, because we have one of the most entertaining players in the league. You can't coach him, he just goes out and does his thang, and I love it!
Kev and FM are spot on. He is so much a part of this remarkable journey we have made in the last 3 years. He gives all of us our best Stoke City moments. I can forgive Tony the cage and his defensive organisation when we can watch this magician every week.
Thanks Rici, another match winning performance at Pompey. Look after those knees mate, and just keep doing it. You are an absolute legend and will always be a Stoke City hero who helped drag us back into the big time.
Long may it continue.
