Not sure who to address thisletter to and who to email it to. Any help would be appreciated. Here is my attempt at a complaint letter. Any tips for how to improve it much welcomed
Dear Referees association, I wish to lodge a complaint against the refereeing performance of Mr. Alan Wiley in the game between Manchester City and Stoke City on 16th February 2010. Mr. Wiley struggled to keep up with a high tempo game and was often ahead of the play in order to keep up, resulting in wrong decisions and missed fouls. The incident that really showed this was the kick from Patrick Vieira to Glenn Whelan in the first half. Admittedly Stoke City themselves have been the victim of this in the past with Robert Huth being given a three match ban after the incident had happened. So this must be the case for this incident too. It was a malicious incident that the referee should have seen. I know this is a matter for the FA to handle so I shall not question whether a ban will be given or not. However it seemed that once again in another home game, Stoke City were awarded very few free kicks. In my opinion Stoke did not deserve that many fouls against them, and many were for simply jumping for a ball. How can a foul be given for a Stoke player winning a header, whereas a Manchester City player doing the same( and some cases using the opposition player to lever themselves higher)is not given as a foul? To echo the words of Tony Pulis, referees must be fair. In many instances this season referees have awarded incorrect decisions against Stoke, and this has upset many fans such as myself. It is almost as if referees are giving decisions to the bigger clubs as this will matter more to them. This may not be the case but this is what it seems to many fans. In the case of the Red card eventually the correct decision was made. However the referee in fact did not think the tackle was in fact a foul and did not originally give the card. However since play broke down and players thought a foul was given, the referee consulted the linesman. This is the correct procedure, but if not for the linesman, another decision would have been given wrongly. Finally I would like to question the ruling out of a perfectly good Ryan Shawcross goal. The goal should have stood and any pundit, fan or player can see this was a goal. The reaction of Kolo Toure showed this entirely. Shawcross jumped before Shay Given moved, allowing him to meet the ball before the keeper. The keeper fell to the floor as to gain a foul after the ball had already been won. Surely this shows that the goal should have stood and that this was a last ditch attempt from the opposition to escape a loss, which would hurt the pride of a side attempting to gain entry to the 4th European spot. I hope you can see my frustration with the officials and the overall performance of the referee throughout the game. I would like a response to this and even to the extent, an apology from Alan Wiley himself. In any everyday job, that kind of performance would warrant at least a suspension. Yours sincerely,

Oh my days. I'd suggest members of this forum need to question their purpose in life.
A referee has had a poor game, true. He's human; isn't he expected to make mistakes? I've no doubt someone will refer to the importance of Premier League points in monetary terms, though this is completely and utterly irrelevant.
When all is said and done, football is only a game. Alarmingly, to some it seems much more important than that.
Great. Wiley had a bad game - let's all scream it from the rooftops to people who couldn't give a toss (quite rightly). It's no use fucking bleating all the time. Do something constructive and discuss the manner in which Stoke approached the game last night, or maybe pick out that once Faye was dismissed TP kept Delap on the left and brought LL into the middle - clearly identifying Johnson as the main threat.

Given all the whining on here regarding Alan Wiley's performance, one assumes everyone was so keen to highlight Danny Higginbotham's challenge on Lucas versus Liverpool. They'd also be keen to point out how Sunderland were denied a stonewall penalty in our game at the SoL.
Unfortunately, we all know that not one of these 'tired of inept refs' types would be able to contain their bias.
Get a grip. The game is officiated by a human beings. They are not capable of seeing every incident and decisions made are very much down to the interpretation of the individual at that given time.
I couldn't give a toss whether you paid £25 to get in. That's your decision - simply because you decide to pay extortionate prices does not mean that officials will get everything right. The game remains what it always was; eleven human beings versus eleven human beings with other human beings overseeing things.
Another good line that is being trotted out quite frequently is the 'I'd get sacked if that was me'. Great. Couldn't really care, to be honest. In reality, there's no parallel to be drawn between the 'day job' and the Premier League referee whose every decision is scrutinised.

All well and good but we would not have an issue if the FA would swallow their pride and introduce video replay as a mechanism for ensuring that referees decisions are made using all of the information available to them. The truth is that refs think that video footage will undermine their integrity, if people like us do not voice our opinion the FA will continue to operate like the close minded bunch of wankers that they are

I can understand when a referee misses something he should have seen (like a foul on a player) - that is annoying but understandable. What I can't understand is when a referee claims to see something that simply didn't happen - like Ryan's alleged foul on Given in the 95th minute of Tuesday's game. Certainly everyone in the Boothen and half the rest of the stadium, could see that Shawcross was perfectly positioned for his header, jumped first and headed the ball WHILST Given struggled to get over to the far post. By the time he got there he was way too late and all he could do was to jump into the space already being occupied by Shawcross. I don't think there was any foul but, if there was one, it could only be by Given on Shawcross because he (Given) was far too late to get to the ball by legitimate means. The ball was on its way into the goal by the time Given arrived.
If the fans (including Man City fans) could clearly see that, why couldn't the referee? He can't claim he was unsighted because, if he was, he should allow the goal. He needs to be asked to explain how it was that he came to the conclusion that Shawcross fouled Given and he needs to explain why he not only came to that conclusion at the time but also AFTER he had viewed the video. Until he can come up with an explanation he should be suspended.

Faye should have been sent off. The Fuller penalty was debatable. The point you make regarding free kicks is utter nonsense. The goal shouldn't have been disallowed. That's all there is to it. You bunch of whining girls won't be so quick to get onto these organisations on the next occasion a referee gives an incorrect decision in our favour, will you? No. You're a bunch of hypocrites. As for the last comment, well done. Dead clever. All this referee stuff is being used by many to cover up their obvious lack of understanding of football. 'we woz wobbed' 'the wef was wubbish' 'the wef cheated' It's hilarious reading the reaction of this board.

Might be in the minority here but to be honest i agree with footballtragic. Yes i was annoyed about Wiley's performance as i'm sure he was but i certainly wouldn't waste my time sending long emails to some nobody in Admin at the FA and expecting anything to change. The reactions are all a bit over the top and as he said when it happens the other way round it's forgotten almost immediately. The game isn't perfect and neither are refs but then neither is life and i'm happy to accept that. I suppose we could have video evidence brought in but the games gone too stop start as it is with all the diving, time-wasting, cheap free kicks that would never have been given 20 years ago and all the messing about that goes on at set pieces. Add video evidence stoppages every few minutes and it would get even worse. I certainly don't buy all this "referees are blatantly biased" nonsense.
