OK, all this transfer speculation and shit is getting a bit boring. There's no ins and no outs so far and it may stay that way, so with that in mind let's deal with some of TP's previous transfer activity...
Who do you think are his 3 best signings in his time as Stoke City manager???
And his 3 worst???
I'll go first, although this is subject to change dependent upon other replies jogging my memory!!!
3 best signings...Shawcross (great defender who must be on the verge of an England call up...a certain Mr. James could be a great influence on Ryan's possible inclusion in England's World Cup Squad), Fuller (this man is seemingly much maligned, yet he is one of the main reasons we are where we are. Got to be in other people's list, surely??? and Beattie (may have been a disappointment this season but without his goals in '08/09 we could well have been playing in the Championship this season).
3 worst signings...Williams (phew, how did this happen, TP??? Meant to have done the job Taggart eventually did but failed miserably), Davies (was a much talked about future star at Southampton but injury has really taken it's toll, so maybe a bit unfair to class him as a worst signing, just unlucky) and Kitson ( erm, I remember getting excited when we signed Tony Ellis from Preston all those years ago but the build up to the Kitson signing surpassed even that!!! What a waste of money!!! What were his problems last season??? Credit where credit's due, his winner against Sunderland and good finish against Bolton has gained us 4 important points this season).
Well, there you go. My 3 of the best, 3 of the worst as far as TP's signings go...what say you???

1) Ricardo Fuller - One of the best forwards in the country plucked from obscurity for £500,000. He makes Plan A work like nobody else can.
2) Shawcross - Destined for bigger things, a steal at a couple of million.
3) A share between Beattie, whose goals were vital last season and who is still a good player when fully fit, and Lawrence and Abdoulaye Faye. The influence of those three players on us has been absolutely massive.
Honourable mentions for Gerry Taggart and Mark Crossley.
Worst three:
1) Paul Williams
2) Vincent Pericard
3) Danny Collins

Shawcross - for how good he is but also for the fact he cost £2m and is now worth 10 times that and he has quite possibly signed us a future England international
Fuller - got to be in anyones top 3 in my opinion, again picked up for next to nothing and has provides us all with countless moments of pure magic and without him we wouldn't be in the prem now
Lawrence - Difficult choice for the 3rd one but i have opted for Liam, didnt cost much and along with Ricardo was the main reason we got promoted, and although hasnt been great so far this season he did have a decent season last year.

Really tough choice this, really tough. You can't dismiss some of the so called lesser signings, just because they appeared in the championship...
Leon Cort was a really good buy at Championship level, and played a massive part in getting us where we are today.
Equally, Lee Hendrie, for the extra ooompfh he gave us during the infamous "loans" period deserves a mention.
Lawrence, Delap, Fuller, Faye, Ethers, Beattie, Sorro are all worth a mention.
Shawcross is the jewel in the crown for me though, considering the money he's being touted for now.

Shawcross - Great defender and a real big future ahead of him. Fuller- Big gamble that has paid off BIG TIME! Etherington - A winger we were desperate for and was a big part in our survival that could not have come sooner.
Pericard - just never seemed to be a Stoke player, a ghost of our squad Kitson - Massive flop and that although not Tony's fault paid way over the odds for. Sonko - £2 million never in this world!

Best signings have to be
Fuller Ryan Lawrence
However of most importance to us as a club then Crossley, Taggs and Akinbiyi without those three we were doomed.

Mark Crossley simply has to appear on any such list.
Crossley and Taggart were key signings and without them we probably wouldn't be hear now.
Fuller is obviously immense and on the basis that he has carried our attacking threat since he has been here, has to be the third option.
The worst list is too long to mention in my opinion but could include any of Kitson, Williams, Collins, Pericard, Mark Wilson, Steve Banks, Kevin Harper. I guess you could even argue Salif Diou who has been utter shite for the most part since he joined permanently.

3 best for me:

But a special mention for Lee Hendrie who IMO was the catalyst for our turn around in fortunes as a club and helped to attract better players to the club

FULLER, SHAWCROSS & DELAP
Kitson....by far the most disappointing. Would still wish to see DK stay and become a decent player for STOKE, not asking for the earth ....just 15 goals a season.

What a great thread. It's impossible.
Best keeper: Simmo, Sorro or Crossley - Sorro is a better keeper now, but Simmo at one time was something else, then again Crossley was more important than either of them at the time.
Award goes to: Crossley
Best Defender: Ryan, Abdy, Huth, Higgy, Taggs - Bloody hell! - Errr, Ryan
Midfield: Eustace, Hendrie, Liam, Ethers, loads of others... Actually I would go for Ethers
Attack: Ade, Fuller, Tuncay, Beattie... Probably say Fuller right now.
So out of Crossley, Ryan, Ethers and Fuller, I would probably put Ethers in fourth but in five minutes I'll change my mind.
Great thread - K to you.

not signed by him, but let's not forget that without mama Pulis' sole tactic wouldn't work and we wouldn't be in the Prem. Shawcross - described by many as having the worst Stoke debut they could ever remember- you know who you are Crossley - we were heading for the rocks and would have sunk without trace
The bad list is a very long one, but top must include his own son; Anthony, nepotism at its most disgusting
