... I said on a thread a few days ago that I would post up exactly who played/didn't play for their respective club teams this weekend, having been involved with either France or Ireland last week. So here we are ...
NOTE 1#: I'm only going to include players that appeared for more than 45-minutes on either leg. Squillaci is the only substitute that, for the purposes of these stats, 'played' over the France/Ireland play-off.
NOTE 2#: I've not included Whelan or Lawro.
NOTE 3#: I don't think I've missed anyone out
The teams were:First-leg, Ireland: Given, O'Shea, St. Ledger, Dunne, Kilbane, Lawrence, Whelan, Andrews, Duff, Doyle, Keane.
Second-leg, Ireland: Given, O'Shea, St. Ledger, Dunne, Kilbane, Lawrence, Whelan, Andrews, Duff, Doyle, Keane.
First-leg, France: Lloris, Sagna, Gallas, Abidal, Evra, Lassana Diarra, Alou Diarra, Gourcuff, Anelka, Gignac, Henry.
Second-leg, France: Lloris, Sagna, Gallas, Escude (Squillaci 9), Evra, Lassana Diarra, Alou Diarra, Gourcuff, Anelka, Gignac , Henry.
Those players that played this weekend for their respective clubs (min. 45 minutes): France: Lloris, Sagna, Gallas, Evra, Anelka, Gignac, Squillaci/ Ireland: Given, Dunne.
Didn't play, or played less than 15 minutes: France: Henry, Lassana Diarra, Alou Diarra, Gourcuff/ Ireland: O’Shea, Keane, Duff, Kilbane, Andrews, Doyle.
N/A through injury: Escude
Yet to play: St. Ledger

I think we can safely assume St.Ledger will appear for Preston tonight vs Newcastle, so including him, the percentage of players who appeared for either France/Ireland
and their respective league clubs was
42.9%. If we include Lawro and Whelan in those stats it becomes
43.5%.
So to conclude, Tony might well feel vindicated in his de-selection of Lawro, as 57.1% of players were deemed not fit enough by their respective managers to appear for their club teams this weekend.
