Mick McCarthy has just been on 5live very briefly. being an ex Lyon player he was on to talk about Liverpool vs. Lyon with a journo from Liverpool. The interviewers (Shelagh Fogerty) opening gambit was to discuss Rafa's current position as manager, has he lost the dressing room, etc. the Scouse journo responded in support of Rafa, she turned to Mick who said something along the lines of, "I thought I was on here to talk about Lyon, not to discuss Rafa, I'll see you later" edit he actually said "err well I've no comment, cus' I'm sorry I was asked to talk about Lyon not about Rafa Benitez, so forgive me I'm gonna swerve that one, I'll leave you and love you" - then hung up. Fair play to him for having the balls to hang up on a national radio show after being lured in on a false pretense.

Mick was already quite high in my estimation for falling out with Roy Keane in such a big way !

I've never liked McCarthy he's a moaning shit stirring wankrag and the fact that he manages that spunkdrenched cocktrolley of a team with it's subnormal troglodyte following makes me dislike him even more.

I was more impressed with this - "Who the fuck do you think you are, having meetings about me? Mick, you're a liar... you're a fucking wanker. I didn't rate you as a player, I don't rate you as a manager, and I don't rate you as a person. You're a fucking wanker and you can stick your World Cup up your arse. The only reason I have any dealings with you is that somehow you are the manager of my country! You can stick it up your bollocks!!!" H

Joe, I have no doubt that Keane would knock the living shit out of McCarthy, however it would be one of those fights that I would want to go the distance so both of the twats got a good pasting.

Keane has always been a bit unhinged but he has become a madman. If he ever calls a press conference and gets a gun out and shoots himself in his head don't be surprised. And remember I predicted it.

Mick McCarthy (for those who don't know) was a good, solid, tough tackling (if unspectacular) player. In terms of 'toughness' he was every bit the equal of Roy Keane and, in terms of football management, is miles ahead of that pompous over-rated twat. Keane should have been shunned by his nation for his selfish, childish rant at a manager he could have learned much from if only he had the humility. He fucked off and left his national side in the midst of a World Cup the pathetic cnut. he didn't rate mick as a player (doubt he saw much of him), and he didn't rate him as a manager. Perhaps that's because Mick had to start at the bottom and actually learn his business before being handed a decent job. Unlike Keane who waltzed into a top job simply because he was a decent player. McCarthy built a good side at Millwall and went on to get Sunderland into the Premier League on a shoestring budget. Keane followed him and was given a king's randsom and still proved what a useless tosser he is.
Apart from all of the above, Mick McCarthy always 'bigs up' Stoke and hails us as an example of how it SHOULD be done. Top bloke.

However, he does manage a spunkdrenched cocktrolly of a team. Of that there is little doubt.

MM is fast becoming one of my fav blokes in football. First he tells them dirty scummers he wants their team to be like Stoke and also looks like taking them straight back down. With little digs at the media like this morning you cant help but like him a little bit although RAF's 1st statement was pretty fair also. ;D

I like the guy too. He's honest, speaks his mind and is usually quite droll when he does so.
Also on Radio 5, his post match interview with Stuart Hall was a hoot i thought.
Hall took the rip mercilessly out of his attire, his accent and his silky footballing 'skills'. He didn't go all billy big bollocks but joined in wholeheartedly.

Interesting that despite getting beat by SIX goals at home to Southampton a couple of years ago, the Wolves fans cheered him off, chanting "Their's only one Mick McCarthy". You've got to have 'Something' to come through a home result like that and still be loved.
Not sure TP would get the same reception if we got beat 6 at home by Hull.

Mick McCarthy has only been complimentary about Stoke since he got Wolves promoted. I think he has realised in his first season he will pretty much have to emulate at least a few of TP's tricks if Wolves are to stay up. I remember him being not so complimentary about us when we beat them at theirs the year of our promotion, in fact he was thoroughly fucking horrible about us.
