Yes a friendly, how many points did we lose? are we bottom of the table? It means fook all. i appreciate the insignificance of it but it doesn't negate the fact that we have lost 2 friendlies which by all accounts were boring. Expect Burnley to rip us apart on that performance The team we put out against Burnley will bear no resemblance to the teams at either venue either in personnel or in terms of effort (e.g Cant see Louis Hamilton getting near the starting eleven) Today was a trot around to improve fitness - Results are totally irrelevant

I think that Dave is part of the club as it's hard to understand why he able to give clues to the transfer targets. I think the problem is people on here forget that even if it was Tone himself feeding us this information it wouldn't make the signings happen any quicker. The club seem to be trying hard at bringing in players which is one of the criticisms we've had in the past and also why I think that davesview has been created, to show us that the club are trying.
We just need to remember that he's passing on information about transfer targets and not cast iron future Stoke players and maybe DV should stop giving percentages or predictions on delivery dates.

So Burnley will rip us apart because we lost to 'Castle Town? Ok.

I have a moment of clarity every year and I've just reached it.
I get all excited because we are linked with lots of really good names. Then nothing happens. So I get even more excited because the tension mounts and everyone on here starts throwing names into the ring.
Then I have this moment of pure clarity. I realise that we have not and will not, sign anyone of any note at all. However in the last week before the transfer window shuts we will get two 'Whose he?' signings and one 'On no! not him' signing.
I have just had that moment of clarity.
PS Has anyone else heard a rumour about Terry Henfleet going out on loan? I really thought he'd be in our first team this year.

So Burnley will rip us apart because we lost to 'Castle Town? Ok. that isn't what i said at all bayern, how selective of you to draw that from my post. I expect that Burnley will produce far more effort in the game than we seem prepared to do on todays showing (Abdy aside). What is the point of having friendlies at all if not to ascertain fitness and ability then?

You can't base how we'll do in the first game of the season on 2 friendlies. They've been in training for 4/5 days and they looked rusty. Come August, they'll be fitter, we'll have some new players (hopefully ;D ) and todays game will show no bearing on that. They got fitness today, we just missed chances, with training and more games this will come. Now's not the time to panic. It was just one of those days that will have no bearing on what we do against Burnley.

please yourselves what you think, but if i played for stoke and wanted to stake my claim as a viable option for selection, today would have been as good a chance as any to prove myself in front of the gaffer.
like i said, what is the point of friendlies if not to do such a job? We may as well fook it til first game if it's all a bit of a piss take

I belive he's genuine, but it also show how incompetent the club is when it comes to signing players. It's now 2 1/2 months since Dave said signings were on it's way.
The club is doing something completely wrong compared to most other clubs, or is it that we are as unattractiv as you get?

Didn't we lose to Rhyl one week in a friendly and then beat Derby the week after 3-0 in the league?
Results mean bugger all. Today Delap, Whelan, Abdy, Wilko, Kitson, Ethers, Soares all put in a decent performance imo. We created chances and just couldn't take them-it happens. Nothing to worry over yet.

Yep, lost 4-1 at Rhyl, and then first game of the season battered Derby away 3-0. Neal, Gifton and ..... someone else?

Exactly what teams ripped us apart as you put it at the Brit last season???? The point of friendlies is to gradually build your fitness for the start of the season....not rocket science. We have 5 frigging weeks to do that and THEN it matters.

There are basically a bunch of posters who know the quickest way to get attention is to slag off Davesviews and his 'followers' and you are most definitely not the only victim - view the abuse Monkeycat has been receiving in the last few days. Doubts will remain until we make the first signing (or departure) and we can link that move to something that you have told us, until then the fact that you are high profile (>1,000,000 views), mysterious (intimately linked to the club, maybe more than one person, not giving names) will encourage the doubters to post. Great post there chap. I genuinely hope that Dave doesn't stop posting because of the short sighted abuse coming his way of late. It's all about to come into sharp focus very soon anyway. Jeez.

nobody seems to answer my point...friendlies, as i have stated, are insignificant, but in the absence of any new additions, the squad members ought to be fighting on the pitch to prove they are an option and asset to this club and but for Abdy, i didn't see it today

Abdy wasn't outstanding, Ethers, Soares and Delap did more imo. I can see Your point but if we had converted the chances that we should have done and had Sorro in goal, I don't think it would have mattered. Today is soley for fitness and if they woo TP-great, if they don't he certainly won't judge them off 1 friendly.

not crying rob, just majorly disappointed (apart from Abdy) and disappointed that the same loss occurred in cheshire too.
Maybe i should learn to expect far less from stoke then i wouldn't be so disappointed. Crewe didn't seem to struggle against them, and fair play to castle town...i thought their winger was excellent

Completely agree with you Bayern and Rob with regard to the importance of today's games, but we really were dreadful at Nantwich.
Sonko and Cresswell were worse than terrible.

I actually enjoyed the game! ;D The only player I was disappointed with was Beattie. He was shocking. The rest either I expect shite from them-DSLH, Cort or were ok. It was no different to any 'Castle Town friendly, we've played worse than that and won-last year for instance. We just missed too many chances and had a gash keeper-do that and You'll lose. The gash keeper will be replaced by an experienced international and as training and games carry on You'd hope the finishing will improve.

Beating Newcastle 7-0 counts for nothing. Get over it Paul- you didn't video the game did you :-)

Beattie was awful - seemed to think the whole thing was beneath him. Disappointed with Dicko too, thought Wilko yet again showed he's far, far superior. Love Bayern's crazy capitalizing of the word You
