If we beat Newcastle next week, then we are surely safe ... aren't we?
A win for us would mean that Newcastle would have to win three of their remaining six (they've only won six ALL season!) or win two and draw three AND we would have to lose EVERY SINGLE ONE of our remaining six games on the bounce.
Neither scenario is likely yet BOTH would have to happen in order for Newcastle to finish above us.

i think so,
we'd be gauranteed to finish higher than newcastle, and be at least 8 ahead of boro
38 may be enough provided that win comes next week

I reckon 37 points = safety. Wouldn't mind seeing us reaching 40 points though.

You would think so, wouldn't you?
Then again stranger things have happened, and I for one will only start celebrating properly once the maths decides that we're safe.
We've been saying it for months, but our run-in really is a dream compared to that of most teams around us, and even a draw against Newcastle would still have me extremely confident of survival.

Sheff united went down with 38 points that season didn't they ? .
No time to be resting on laurels, just go out to try and win every game and keep going until it's mathematically impossible, no talk of being safe until that moment comes .

Sheff united went down with 38 points that season didn't they ? . After 38 games they did, not 32. I really can't see us losing six games on the bounce AND Newcastle ALSO going on an incredbile run, though I do accept it is possible.

It's tempting to start getting the champagne out now isn't it? The trouble is this is Stoke. We never do anything the easy way.
But in answer to the question, yes. I agree, a win next week and I think we will be out of sight of the relegation pack. We will be 9 clear of Newcastle and even if Boro get a win we will be 8 clear of them as well. Overhauling us would be the equivalent of us overhauling West Ham in 7th place.

Also newcastle have got to play boro. Nothing like a North Eastish derby to screw them both up. Also away to liverpool & Villa for geordies

Does that mean two more wins (with results going our way) = safety?

Does that mean two more wins (with results going our way) = safety? Mathematically I think it's THREE (results going our way) mate. We could be safe REALISTICALLY though next week.

oh what the hell! .... we can make fucking europe Worst result for us today was Man City not beating Arsenal, if they had, then mathematically as it stands, we could have been going to the Emirates with a winner takes all game for that Champions League 4th spot!

7 games = 21points mate, we are 11 points clear of the baggies they are bottom. I think that with 7 games left we need at least 2 more hme wins and a couple of away results. Only my opinion!

After today's results, it'd take a major turn-round in form for several clubs for us to go down.
Probably another 4 points from our last 7 games would be enough. But I think we'll average a point a game from now on - leaving us on a comfortable 42 points.

I think a win next week would see us safe. Brazil and Boro are down and if we beat Newcastle we are nine points clear with six to play. We have to keep going though theres still a long way to go and if we lose next week its all to play for.

A win next week will give NUFC a worse goal difference than us.
I think 39 points will make us safe. So a win and a draw.
As we were driving back, Radio Stoke were saying we could be safe by the end of this month. If that is the case, TP has to be a contender for manager of the season.

A win next week should see us safe. The facts are that the teams below us haven't won many games all season - nothing suggests they can turn that around and suddenly win 4 games out of six to overhaul us.
Great win today - a real monkey off our back.
