Absolutely bizarre performance from this guy. Had never heard of him before tonight. Was absolutely unbelievably bad first half...like literally one of the worst individual displays i've ever seen from a player at the Brit (even worse than Whelan and Walters ). Then he came out second half and was genuinely world class, tore us to shreds and put in arguably the best second half performance from an individual player i've ever seen at the Brit! Baffling stuff. Incredible to watch him second half the way he just collected the ball, stroked it about and calved through our defence with absolute ease. He (along with our managers clueless tactics) was the main reason for me why they got back into the game. Ultimately we were lucky not to lose 7-2. Apart from the goals we didnt create a single chance really. They had about 4 decent chances to put it to bed. Gutted about the way we are playing at the moment. Totally soul destroying. Fair play to Martinez though for taking on a bunch of average players, on not much of a budget and getting them to play some quite outstanding football. You never see them hoof it, not even under pressure. Has anyone seen us get so totally outplayed in a second half since promotion? Pulis out. Just got to go imo.

Did Martinez not get the memo that Hondurans can't play when it's windy?

Wouldnt get near a start for us with this management team Well this is it. For a start we wouldnt have the pace up front and in wide areas for him to succeed which in itself is an absolute joke.

We got a footballing lesson second half.
Wigan had a manager on the sidelines who looked like he was in control. We had a bloke in a cheap shell suit and a baseball cap hopping and jumping around like a deranged Chimp. Embarrassing.

Some of their play in the second half was brilliant, they definitely could and should of had more goals.

Their play was very good once they scored, all the momentum was with them and their possession play was a different class. However, let's get a grip here, we were playing a side that, for all their nice tidy passing, will probably end up getting relegated at the end of the season.

No they wont..Martinez doesnt do relegation, in the same way TP doesnt. Difference is his teams can play football.

I thought he was pretty shit most of the game apart from two decent balls into the box.

Ill tell you what
There is no way Martinez would have spent £8m on a player from Honduras and allow him to rot like we have !

We made them look better than they are. In the acres of space we left i reckon the vale would have stroked it about like brazil.

The question isn't whether or not Wigan will get relegated but what entertainment Martinez (like Laudrup) consistently provides, and on so relatively small a budget.

He looked really familiar. Turns out I've seen him play for Honduras in the Olympics and possible in our pre season friendly with Sporting Kansas? Possibly a bit of a luxury player, but he was excellent last night. A genuine playmaker.

Whether or not Wigan survive, if the season was starting now we'd be sinking like a lead balloon.
