True.
Said on the other thread.....v impressed with Clarke. Very much under the radar but very competent and understated.
If we're talking TP successors I would like to see is name mentioned.....probably a bigger club awaits though.

March, explain why you say that. Why will they be down with the dead men? They play with fluidity and purpose. They score the goals you inexplicably think are irrelevant and most importantly they WIN. We aren't doing any of those things. When will we turn it round??

Is this West Brom who finished above us for the past 2 seasons despite spending a fraction on players that we do? Or is there another WBA? Keep mugging yourself off old boy, it's pure comedy gold.

Whilst I agree we will probably be safe (however ugly, dull and boring we do it) you have made a bit of a fanny of yourself with that statement march mate.

WBA – now in their 3rd successive season seem to have addressed the yoyo stuff of the past. Clarke (Zola’s assistant) wasn’t particularly rated at WHU – nor Liverpool it would seem but you can’t argue with where he’s got the Baggies. Can they keep it going?
Adkins by comparison spunked 19 of his 30m this summer window on two players forgetting that the Prem needs better defending and most Saints fans have been deluded enough to think their 2nd in the NPC and the winning mentality they brought from two successive promotions would be enough.
That they had/have at best a Championship squad with a couple of headliners is only now occurring to them. But in Adkins they don’t have the nous of Pulis to scrape the survival points.

Agree, Hammered, it looks bleak for Southampton. We mustn't make the daft errror of thinking we can take it easy because Southampton and Reading will take too relegation places.

WBA are 8 points clear of us in only 9 games. The gap is probably already insurmountable.

As I put in the other WBA thread, their problems will come when Dan Ashworth leaves in the summer for the FA. He's the man behind their success and replacing him will be huge.

Its a long season. Southampton could take 6 points off us for all we know. We certainly didnt look a lot better than Reading either.

I've been saying for weeks how well WBA are playing. A lot more solid at the back than usual with loads of attacking options. Enjoyable to watch & when they've lost it's still been entertaining

Sunderland and Norwich are shite too but we couldn't beat them.
TP can blame the officials all he likes but he just cannot motivate our players.

Possibly something to do with Soton being shite aswell though. Yeah, because we've put the shite teams we've played to the sword haven't we WBA are a good example of a team actually 'pushing on', and even this Summer when we've cut our spending, we've still comfortably outspent them.

Surprising what a change of Manager can do....... Really mate, you don't want to go down that road because you're doomed if you want to highlight one success against any number of failures when it comes to management changes.

This season's Newcastle. Taken a lot of teams by surprise with their counter attacking play. Defensively they look extremely solid and comfortable when the ball is played on the ground or in the air.
Also, Foster is looking decent again in goal and Lukaku has started very brightly (what might have been ...).

I very much doubt that the people of stoke would like to see their team play like the baggies

WBA last 38 games:
Won 15 Drew 8 Lost 15 GF 51 GA 50 Pts 53
Our record last 38 games:
Won 9 Drew 15 Lost 14 GF 36 GA 49 Pts 42
We're not a million miles apart, but the difference is they turn draws into victories by scoring more than us. They want to win - we want to avoid defeat.

What amazes me about the Baggies this season is that they're doing so well with a team that includes Gera, who looked finished a season or so ago, Dorrans, who has always been a bit part player under previous managers and Mulumbu, who has never impressed me but looks much better this season. I like Shane Long and Lukaku, plus Odemwingie gives them a pacy outlet. They play it on the deck and break at speed. Fair play to them say I.
