As you may know, The Potters will be playing in the USA this summer and one of our games is in Florida, against Orlando City on July 28th. Julian Colucci of Orlando City has been in touch with us to offer his help with tickets and travel to any Stokie who may be planning to fly out to the USA. Julian's email address is: jcolucci@orlandocitysoccer.com www.orlandocitysoccer.com/news/index.html?article_id=891

Got back from Orlando yesterday, watched Orlando City last thursday against Los Angeles, very poor fayre, artificial pitch, best player James O`Connor, no atmosphere (crowd around 4,000), massive 70,000 stadium spread around 3 sides ! lower tier only used, annoying caribbean band playing reggae music all game, young Ant "playing" in midfield, drew 1-1, conference standard at best - TP was there day before didnt stop for game - they need to gain acceptance into the MLS in order to attract better players, but firstly need to raise cash to build a 20,000 stadium of their own - the citrus bowl, where they currently play was built for throwball or whatever it`s called. they got 11,000 for last yr`s friendly against Newcastle, so there will be plenty of tickets available

Former long time Orlando resident agrees that game day atmosphere at the Citrus Bowl will be somewhat lacking. The stadium itself is in urgent need of updating (dates originally from 1936), with the various local & state authorities and politicians being stuck in a standoff as to where to come up with the $175M or so that is needed. At 70k capacity, it is much too big for even an MLS franchise, much less the USL. Too bad they can't play over at the Univ. of Central Florida across town as that is brand new and better sized at 45K - just too far on the east side of Orlando to be able to attract the centralized fan base. The quality of the play is commensurate with being a league below the MLS, although they did come out with a 1-1 tie vs. Newcastle in last year's summer exhibition. That being said, there are sure worse places than Orlando in which to attend an away match (leave the wife & kids at Disney for the day?). The Columbus, OH game would definitely offer better competition (MLS), venue and atmosphere, both at the game and in the surrounding town. I really do applaud Stoke and Orlando City for putting this together and can only hope it becomes a regular type arrangement as a win-win for both clubs.

Could we not send some of our kids their on loan?
Would give them great experience, whilst helping our feeder club.
Im sure we sent a few to Iceland in the Gudjon era.
On the downside they could all come back obeste.

It won't sell out, the stadium holds around 75,000, but only the lower bowl (and maybe the middle bowl depending on demand) will be open.

Booked tickets for all three games. Columbus Crew and Sporting Kansas City through TicketMaster and Orlando City through John in their ticket office.
If our Europa trips are anything to go by, well see you in a few airport lounges Scouse!

Going to be a battle to get to the match in Orlando, but I'll be there. Virgin flight lands 15:25, dash to villa/apartment, then off to the game. Gotta not wimp out to jet lag and keep going with the Red Bull assist. Seems as though a few of us will be there.
Stokies here....

What a shame - I'm in Orlando just now and leave before the game vs Stoke. Maybe I'll catch their game on the 14th. My son's got his Stoke strip with him so it might be a good chance to show it off.
Yes - bad planning, I know!
