“It is great for the public here at Sunderland to see us,” said manager Brendan Rodgers. “They must have been wondering what this team everyone is talking about are all about and now they have seen. We were wonderful.
“Our intention is always to pass teams to a standstill, but give credit to Sunderland, they defended ever so well when other teams might have wilted.
“I suppose when you pay that kind of money for Sessegnon and Gardner, £7m and £5m, they will come up with those moments of real quality.
“Our objective at the start of this season was to stay in the league but I believe we can finish in the top 10. Of course, it is all about getting results but I still thought we were brilliant.”
What an obnoxious p***k

He's going all Phil Brown on us.
He'll be speaking in the third person before we know it.

Do you not think he is getting a little above his station with comments like - “It is great for the public here at Sunderland to see us,” & “They must have been wondering what this team everyone is talking about are all about and now they have seen. We were wonderful.?

He is a very confident chap is Mr Rogers, learnt his trade at Chelsea under Mourinho and was highly rated when he went to Reading, purely becuase Mr Mourinho said so. What he has said does come across as arrogant but it also bigs up his team. Whether this arrogance will come back to haunt him is another thing.

We were wonderful.? No not really mate. To be honest I think it's a refreshing change for a manager to come out with a few statements that aren't banal and cliché ridden. He's saying what he believes to be true and in actual fact the media have been jizzing over his team for weeks now, so he's simply reacting to public opinion in my view. On the other hand, I suppose you could say he's being arrogant and 'up himself', but as I say . . . . . !

Incredible comments, really. I think he genuinely thinks his team ponderously passing the ball around 60-yards from goal and forcing Simon Mignolet to make one routine save from distance was some kind of real privilege for us. That he had treated us to some kind of football master class.
The only genuine football artistry on view were the goals from Sessegnon and Gardner.

Don't see much of a problem with it myself. He's got every right to say it, look where they are in the league and the teams they've beat.

The problem is, he said it after a game where his side lost 2-0 and by all accounts, hardly troubled the opposition keeper whatsoever. Passing it prettily around in your own half doesn't count for a great deal.

His ‘philosophy’ (football was, is and never will be fucking philosophy) didn’t work at Reading very well did it and whilst they Swansea are largely to be admired it will be when the bad run comes that his worth as a top manager will be tested. Will he be prepared to compromise his ‘philosophy’ to try and get some of those things that they use to calculate league tables?
If he’s not careful he will have a future not to dissimilar to that of T Mowbray (although he’ll probably get more fanny on account of him not having a face was a slugs testicle)

All about transforming that possession into penetration and they couldn't do that. Done OK this season, but they still left the SoL with no points and in the bottom half of the table yet boasting to us about how lucky we were to be able to see them. Amazing. ;D

I hope that they keep to his philosophy of playing the tippy tappy passing game in their own penalty area long enough for their visit to the Britannia.

Both cracking players actually. Bruce certainly knew how to work the transfer market. Just didn't have a scoobies how to mould a team.

But that leaves Bolton, Brazil, Blackburn, Wolves and Wigan to choose from for the last spot! It's a difficult decision!
