There’s a case for both sides but to say fans back the decision is just a blatant lie from Spinks. The only conclusion I can draw is that if we don’t do it now it’s pretty obvious that we will never do it.

We should make decisions on what is right for us, not what others are doing.
It should be a decision based on finance and whether it's economically right at this time, I trust Coates to get that call right.

Who are these people who seem to speak for everyone ?. The money we lost on the last game of the season would have paid for a corner to be filled in. It's called ambition. Wolves are extending theirs  . Its the next step up, gradual progression we are always been told. The money we have spunked up the wall on wages for Davies , Soares , Arismendi etc and you could have filled 2 corners in .  |

So next season they'll be more fans wanting to go to games but the capacity will stay the same for at least 2 years now.
The law of supply and demand dictates that we'll see an increase in ticket prices as more fans try to get the limited places available.
Then the expansion will happen with the prices remaining the same.
I don't understand why the work couldn't start now and be ready for the 2012/2013 season, in a years time, when it'll be needed.

The Vic in our heyday could always house more than 30k, and that should be the absolute minimum now that we have been in the Prem for 3 seasons. It's not as if we need to build a new tier either, just fill that gaping hole between the Boothen and West Stand.

The seats could easily be filled most weeks with more imaginitive, less abusive, match day pricing. Its a decision that could easily be seen as displaying a lack of ambition.

I haven't even got anecdotal evidence to support this - but there's a perception the kids in the area are coming back into the Stoke fold,as we become a more attractive non glory-hunting option.
And there's nowhere for them to sit at the Brit, as there are often just single seats dotted about the ground for general sale.
Just filling one corner, adding 2500 seats for about 3m ,would do the trick and give a bit of leeway for new attendees to catch the Stoke bug

The main point for me however is this odious club arse crawling by the Shitenel trying to hoodwink its readers into believing that there is mass fan backing for this when there is no evidence of any such thing. |

The only way we can 'push on' is by extending the brit and filling one or more of the corners in, as Wolves have done.

Despite the obvious there are also many fringe benefits, not least aesthetics, acoustics and the chance to right the biggest fuck up of the lot and fuck away supporters off from around the tunnel area.

Agree with WD the stoke.are in thenprem novilty has wore off and the majority of people dont seem interested... Mayve the trip to wembley last season might have re enlighted a few fires but i very much doubt it.. I think 10% of the cities population is probably max turn out...when you consider we are one of few (and the smallest) city with two teams its not a bad effort. We are never goin take away the already glory hunting fans that the 90s created - we forever going to get for the next 10years at least kids at school sayin "well my dad was a united fan"

Maybe demand has dropped off for the leftover places because there's less availability of seats together. Every season in the PL is a measure of continued success and if you don't increase the capacity then you'll never know what sort of crowds you'll be able to attract. |
