From memory they gave it the big one, they had a well earned reputation in the lower divisions. There was nothing personal in it back then like today.

if i remember, they was a lot of banter between them and the stoke fans in the boothen paddock. seem to remember stoke fans picking out a welsh bird in their end and giving her a bit of a torid time.

The first trouble between i remember was at Ninian Park in the 78-79 season, those of us on British Rail Football Specials had to mingle with their ''boys'' or ''boyo's if you like. All hell broke loose and fierce battles took place all the way to the Station. Hardly any Police were present and so the incident got nasty quite quickly with both sets of fans giving their all. Cardiff started the trouble though, i know because i saw the incident that sparked it off.

Pedantic but it was 1987. Paul Wimbleton scored for Cardiff.

I went that game at Ninian in 78 season, was only nipper but can vaguely remember thwere being some Stoke in their end scrapping then having to jump over a barrier into the Stoke end as in the end they had about half of Wales after them, the car park was like a warzone afterwards and remember halfenders being thrown to and throw all the way back to the station.
Was at the night game at theirs in 2002? when Stoke went into their main pub, seemed like most of our away support was up for it that night kicked off with ob as they kept us inside.

Can always remember as a 14 year old arriving at Stoke Station just as a train full of Cardiff arrived via Crewe. Between the Police & the welcoming committee of Stoke fans, they had a torrid time.

Mr Frost I cant remember the Cardiff 1986 home game very well but know there was bother. The 1978 games was another kettle of fish. Three specials left Stoke and most of stokes support was in the paddock. As was the case in those days stokies were also all over the ground. You can see this off the youtube clips on the net. A couple of stoke were sussed in their big bob bank and were chased out and had to climb over the large fence, one got caught so his mate jumped back in to help. After the match saw serious violence, for some reason stoke fans were let out in groups of around 200,the first lot got heavily attacked. As more and more stoke were let out the road to the station enbankment the road seemed to littererd with strewn bodies,Stoke on the right and Cardiff on the left.total violence and you had to be switched on and stay in groups. After all arriving on the embankment and few police Stokes more notorious lads were selecting our livelier lads to hang back and get the last train, this resulted in far less numbers but more quality shall we say. Back down onto the streets below stoke went. Very very violent day. To be honest any trip to Cardiff or Swansea was usually lively. Had several lively days out at swansea.

I remember a mob of Cardiff gathering in Stoke town centre and about half an hour later seeing them being scattered as they ran for it :-) A few ran and hid in a cafe opposite Woolworths
Yep- Wimbleton the little long haired troll scored for them with Phil Heath getting the winner. We'd played Grimsby in two replays at the Vic the previous Monday and Wednesday as we won the toss for the second replay finishing 1-1 and 6-0.

Werrington. Was right mental that day after we had gone into the Glebe to intently kick it off with their lads. I remember one of the Cardiff lads asking 'will you come to the replay Boyo' to which he was told 'there will be no fucking replay' and then go a good smacking and that's when it all kicked off. Punches, kicks, you name it it all went in. It ended up that they were at one end of the bar and we were at the other. Pint pots were being thrown left right and centre whereas i was at the front dodging them with a cut up mouth 'where they'd splintered into my mouth, and then throwing them back with interest . After we came outside, a few moments later some other Cardiff lads were having their police escort from the train station when Dave 'RIP mate, love ya loads' went into the escort and kicked it off. a few moments later i began to illucinate and had visions that hundreds upon hundreds were running at me, at this point i gave it toes only to then fall over a barricade and into a 5ft hole. Didnt half knacker after the 10s of pints had worn off the next day.... And the Coventry game, well that'll teach e'm take the piss out of my 'out of date' Marco Polo top..... ;D ;D ;D
