on the pictures earlier ramsey got the ball as on impact its behind ryan but he's no way to blame.....

agreed matey...look at Ryans eyes/head, he obviously looking at the ball and not at Ramsey as would be case if he was going to play the man not the ball....INNOCENT..

Shawcross has his leg on the ground after reaching the ball. Ramsey arrives a fraction of a second later and his air born leg hits Shawcross, the ball spins away from both in the collision. I'm amazed Shawcross also came out of it intact, it could have easily been the other way around or two broken legs  (need to click to enlarge)  |

looking at the approach to the tackle, my line of thinking is this. The Merseyside Derby last week or so, and the challenge that saw the Greek defender get sent off & Fellani get carried off. Studs high, with intent...and so much worse than tonight.

was at the game but it happened so quick . just watched it again on you tube and ryans foot doesnt look raised off the floor at all so really it was just mistimed . campbell and fabregas though really do need to look at themselves because they act like total idiots after the challenge

Looks like Ramsey has nicked the ball away a half a second before Ryan put the tackle in, it's bad luck on Ramsey's part, but there's no way Ryan could stop once he was committed to the tackle.
Horrible injury and I hope Ramsey makes a full recovery, but Ryan has to forget about it and put it behind him as quickly as possible, no better way of doing that than linking up with the England squad midweek .

Sitting in block 29, I was right opposite it and just a few yards away. RYAN SHAWCROSS IS TOTALLY INNOCENT and tried only to play the ball.

Its hard to tell even in slow mo, but it could even be that Ryan touches the ball first. It is very 50-50. I must say that Ramsay does have both feet off the ground as he goes into the tackle. This causes his foot to lock into the ground and Ryan goes onto that leg with his body weight. It appears that Ryan's legs hit Ramsay's legs. As others have said, Ryan could have come away with the same injury.

It was a clumsy tackle, but nothing you don't see every week. Really unfortunate for Ramsey - all the best to him.
Was it a red - probably. Put it this way - if it was a Stoke player on the receiving end then bleaters on here would be baying for blood.

That photo proves how unfortunate the incident was. When I it watched back on Sky+ I said that Ramsey was as responsible for the injury, if not more so, than Ryan. If you look at the freeze frame close up that they showed on MOTD it actually looks as though his leg has collapsed the other way before Ryans boot makes any contact with it.
I hope the lads injury is not as bad as it looks and he makes as quick recovery as is possible, and also that Ryan gets his head round it quickly and realizes that it wasn't his fault.

Effectively (and it shows it on the MOTD freeze frame) Ramsey's leg was already twisted before any impact.
He might not have suffered a break without any further contact, however I think this is up for debate.
Thus, was his leg about to collapse (I'm cringing while I type this) before the incidental contact from Ryan?

My legs feel like jelly, from block 30 it was pretty rough stuff you could see the guys leg snapped in half and hanging at a very unnatural angle. It's a horrible accident and I really feel for both players.
It reminds me of the time I was playing five aside and two of my mates went for the ball, one ended up basically going over the ball and then they hit knee on knee, the thing was one mate had his leg planted down. Again no intent but just a horrible accident

Having just watched the third Arsenal player in 5 years go down to one of these, i find it astrinomically stupid and dimwitted that any one expect them to keep their cool. Perfectly normal response. Ur wrong, look closely at the above post and the ''trail of occurance''. its the 2nd picture down that is being showed, ryan was closer to the ball but his leg is further away than ranseys leading leg. My actual thaughts are that arsenal play for fouls and he was trying to get the ball first knowing shawcross would give away a foul, i dont see any other advantage of ramsey going for this ball with shawcross already in full swing. Ramseys agility and size means his leading leg gets to the ball first and kicks it away, where ramseys leg was-> thats where the ball used to be, and therefore shawcross instead of kicking the ball he kicked ramsey. This is FACT, this is what happened, after reading that do u think its a red? Ryan was entitled 100% to go for the ball, ramsey went for it all the same, got there first but to no avail and got clobbered unfortunately, but there was NO WAY for shawcorss to pull out at all.........thats why its NOT worth a red card!!!!! Just think about it, and examine the evidence, its easy to see why the ref gave red but be honest it didnt deserve one and therefore under the rules and the idea of consistancy it should not have been given. |
