It is only day 19, we are still 12 days away from Stoke's Transfer Window.

Why is it that every single player linked with us is also linked with Sunderland and West Ham and vice versa?

Nearly 500 pages. We were only on about 200 when the Demba Ba stuff started.

Also, what the hell was Davesviews so excited about the other night?
Fair enough, he was half cut but he seemed all giddy yet the only thing that was happening is Villa signing Bent.

Where the fuck do these stupid redtops get their info re bids for Stoke players? 5m for Bego, 2m for Tuncay? As if!!! I can only presume they missed the 1 off the front of both offers. How soon they forget.. sigh, this is Stoke remember? Cast your mind back ot the Pesch sale....., I'm sure there are many more examples of our crap business deals!! Dr., we are a very different club now, thankfully, and Coates is a very different chairman. If Dave is right, we have already turned down big money bids for Bego, Huth and Shawcross fairly recently and we don't need to sell unless the deal is right for the club - ie we have someone better lined up as replacement or the offer is so stupidly high for an unsettled player that we cannot afford to say no (like Bent).

At even just 10% of that, i'd be drinking what he was too.

Do we need to be prepared for negative Dave tonight ?
It's all gone very quiet again after he suggested that there would be good news this week

It is only day 19, we are still 12 days away from Stoke's Transfer Window. But it's only 3 days left before we play Fulham, where it would have been nice with a win. I can't really see why everyone is so happy about there are so many days left, signings should be done as early as possible, as we want to play the players we buy.

puzzled me though, i know bent would never come to stoke, but dave was constantly saying that 'more than one club were in for him' yet there has never been any mention on ssn or websites of any other interests

many other clubs put their newbies straight in on the action, not tp you can gaurantee any newbie will be made to train and then he mignt treat the kiddie to 20mins at the end of the match.
i just dont think he has trust in players, not in their ability but in their ability to play the 'stoke way' ie tracking back, pressing defenders
and basically none of this tippy, tappy backheeling, fancy football shit !!!!

Straight in with a bid they couldn't refuse (& Fishypaste hints that was actually more eye-watering than reported).
Hence knocking any other more hesitant (or is it "realistic"?) bids for six.

Why is it, when we ask him on Sunday night what's happening, he always says good news at the end of the week. I know it's not Dave's fault but can Stoke only sign players Thursday and Friday.

You can’t panic buy just for the sake of it. If the deals are right they will be done I’m sure. We’ve done the right thing on the Demba Ba deal, it’s too big a risk to stump up 7 million on somebody that could injure themselves for 6 months in their first match. The squad we’ve got is more than capable of getting a result at Fulham. The chances are if we signed somebody this week, they’d be on the bench at best anyway as we know Tone likes to phase players in gradually. No need to panic just yet, we are 8th, we’ve got a strong squad and I’m sure Tone will add to it when the right deals can be done.

I suppose it is a way of ensuring you get your man but that's basically panic buying. The trick surely is to pay only £1 more than somebody else (the current owner or other buyers) value the assett.

I suppose it is a way of ensuring you get your man but that's basically panic buying. The trick surely is to pay only £1 more than somebody else (the current owner or other buyers) value the assett. Swamp - Fishy mentioned a NQ vid where he alludes to the fact that it might have been "a bit more" or something similar. Ask him - he's around.
Take your point though and you are correct but that is a tactic for ebay when you CBA if you won the item or not and not for a shit or bust move (literally) to keep your investment in the Prem.
His acumen (& i also cite risk taking) was to go straight for it with a bid they couldn't refuse & no fannying about wondering if he had paid £2 more.
(Short on goals, he had also probably looked around and assessed the available striker options - and there aren't many are there?)
Hence he's given Villa (& Houllier for now) their very best shot at staying out of trouble and in the Prem - worth far more than Bent's fee or wages obviously.
All very odd to me as i had long had Lerner "down" as one of the more penny-pinching American owners (not funding MoN etc).

Update: In a surprise move, after a deal with Andrex was terminated, Stoke City are in negotiations with Charmin to become the new bog roll suppliers at the Britannia Stadium.
Tony Scholes (Potters supremo) said: 'There are still significant hurdles to overcome but it's a deal we believe will be in the best interests of this football club. We'll be working through the night in an effort to get the deal done'.
