Are we really only the second team to better our 1st seasons point tally in the 2nd season? It seems a little unlikely but TP seems convinced.

No. I don't know where he's got that stat from, but we're the 9th team to do it, in the Premier League years, apparently. I'm surprised he's parroted it out so often without checking it. But if it makes him happy, let's roll with it |

I love the fact that he keeps bringing up this stat even though it's completely wrong!! The best bit is that apart from those that have read on here that it is complete tosh, every other football fan in the country will fall for it hook, line and sinker! New Oatcake cartoon strip...'TP's Stats' where TP comes out with a completely fictional yet quite plausible stat which the entire Premier League start to believe. |

I'm desperate to show Pulis is right haha yeh but going by this, a few clubs, i.e. Birmingham and Fulham hadnt been in the premier league before and bettered their 1st seasons total in their 2nd season i too am desperate to see Pulis somehow shown right ;D but i'm struggling to see another way around it dont know where he got this stat from. i think most us Stoke fans took Pulis' word on this as we couldn't comprehend Pulis being so spectacularly wrong |

And we also hold the record for being at the one ground the longest in history. (The Old Vic).
We also hold the record for the longest running cup tie ( Bury , I think).

The following clubs were promoted to the Premier League for the first time (since it was formed in 1992) and then bettered their points tally the following season: Blackburn Derby Fulham Birmingham |

What's worse is i've also seen it repeated on BBC and Sky websites. Regardless of how Pulis may or may not be interpreted, the facts are:
Blackburn - promoted to Premier League for the first time in 1992, first season 71pts, second season 84pts
Derby - promoted for the first time in 1996, first season 46pts, second season 55pts
Fulham - promoted for the first time in 2001, first season 44pts, second season 48pts
Birmingham - promoted for the first time in 2002, first season 48pts, second season 50pts
...and us.
So if you interpret Pulis as meaning the first ever season in the Premier League vs. the following season, we're the 5th club to do it.
I'm a big Pulis fan but stop trying to prove him right when he's bloody wrong!!!!
