Wow can't believe some are happy for Ryan to go to let's face it a positional rival of ours and for a measly 9-10 mill.
I think you people are on drugs.

I never said i heard anything about rangers? I said if they tried to join the fa wouldnt be able do much to refuse but they didnt? At least get your facts right before you try and question me, jesus What do you mean, "the FA couldn't do much to refuse"? In footballing terms Scotland is a different country so of course the ENGLISH FA can refuse an application from a SCOTTISH side. If they had to accept applications from a Scottish side they would have to accept applications from sides in Northern Ireland, Southern Ireland or even France. You are basing your claim on the fact that there are Welsh sides in the English leagues and Berwick play in Scotland. But there is no rule FORCING the respective FAs to accept them. The respective FAs have a choice and CHOOSE to accept them.

Letting Ricardo move on was always going to be on the cards - he wouldn't have got much pitch time here, despite being a massive favorite. As for Shawcross MOST FANS WOULD BE IN UPROAR IF HE WAS ALLOWED TO LEAVE! not only is he a massive favorite he is also our team captain doing a great job for the side Having secured Robert Huth (not sure that he would be too pleased to see Ryan move away) it would make no sense at all to sell Ryan. Maybe JP will be on twitter again to bring us up to date???

I think there's only one other English club Shawcross will leave Stoke to join, and that's if/when he goes back to Man Utd. Im fairly certain that old whiskey nose had some buy-back clause in the deal when we took him from Utd permanent deal. QPR, couldn't see the attraction there for ryan really, no better off there than here unless its all about the £££'s (which i dont think is a motivation for ryan). Anyway, he's our captain & that bumps up any transfer fee for him. He's our most valuable asset!!

I do laugh at the £25 million talk.
Stoke would take anything over £10 million. Decent centre halves are plenty and he has no international experience.
I'd rather we kept Huth and Shawcross as they have years in them but dont be silly in thinking it would a) take £25 million to sell him and b) someone would come in even close to that.
Im not saying he's not a good player as he is great for us, that said its much easier replace a decent centre half than a forward, wingers etc...

If he goes anywhere it'll be to manure! If we get anybody in it will be mr own goal dunne! Just hope that all this fuss re Ramsay and Wales hasn't upset Ryan too much. He may prefer have the chance to play for England anyway and now think that this can only be via a top club I would be very surprised if he moved anywhere other than Man Utd. www.stoke.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?With the interest in Shawcross growing, this may cause Shawcross` former club Manchester United to finally make a move to recapture their former trainee, as it is reported that the 'Red Devils` have a clause in which they have the first option on Shawcross if he were to leave Stoke, and with the injury crisis at Old Trafford, this could be the ideal time for Sir Alex Ferguson to move for the Chester born defender.

Can't see us (QPR) getting Shawcross tbh, why would Pullis sell him? Have to say the general concensus on QPR boards is we would rather spend £10mill on him than £9mill on Dawson.

Ryan wouldn't leave for QPR.
Couldn't blame him for moving to Spurs though if the price was right, might finally get the international chances he deserves.
We don't need the money though, so they'd have to cough up for a 24 year old, experienced, English, Premier League captain.

QPR???!!! It would be like when Sheron went there and even worse when Biggins went to Barnsley.
You don't mind being dumped because you're wank but you don't expect her to rock up with John Merrick in tow.

I think, looking at the big picture, that it would make 'BUSINESS' sense to CASH in on Shawcross within the next couple of years.
Selling him at peak value, not at the moment as I think his value will increase slightly.
The club has spent alot of money on players that had/have/will have very little re-sale value.
Soares - Lost £2 Mill Tonge - Will lose £2 Mill Davies - Lost £2 Mill Arismendi - Will lose £3 Mill Jones - Will lose at least £3 Mill Crouch? - Paid £10 Mill, will we ever recoup any of that? Palacios - Paid £6-8 Mill, will we ever recoup any of that? Collins - Lost £2 Mill Whitehead - Cost £5 Mill - I'd try to cash in now for approx £2 Mill
Shawcross and Begovic are our most saleable assests, and it would make BUSINESS sense to actually realise some of that value - at the appropriate time.
Defoe/Dawson, are more players that will depreciate in value.
If the club continues to buy 'depreciating' players, then other assets must be sold at peak value - unless the Coates family is happy to keep throwing money at SCFC.
Cameron/Kightly could both be great deals, as there is a chance of getting 2/3 seasons of football out of them, and doubling their value.
In summary - Ryan Shawcross is my favourite Stoke City player - but when the price/time is right, he should be sold.
